Grab your tissues or a hankie. Death comes to Pemberley as Mrs. Reynolds goes to her long due reward. As she is laid out Darcy recalls stories of Mrs. Reynolds from his childhood. Sweet, yet sad.

This is a very sweet, very short story. Darcy and Elizabeth are married, and he is grieving yet another death of someone close to him. He recounts significant reminiscences of Mrs. Reynolds and her gentle encouragement throughout his life.

God pours life into death and death into life without a drop being spilled. ~Author UnknownFourteen years after the marriage of Elizabeth and Fitzwilliam, a death occurs in their family. Elizabeth must comfort her husband in his grief.Memories and tears fill this story about a beautiful life. This is a very short unpublished work available at: do not die for us immediately, but remain bathed in a sort of aura of life which bears no relation to true immortality but through which they continue to occupy our thoughts in the same way as when they were alive. “The life of the dead is placed in the memory of the living.” Marcus Tullius CiceroHow many of us have spent time at a funeral, wake or graveside service? Too many of us and yet, we can relate to this story regarding a grieving Darcy as he talks to his Lizzy regarding the passing of Mrs. Reynolds. Wow! What a lady. I just loved this reflection of a lifetime of service to the Darcy family. She was the best. In canon, she told the visitors to Pemberley [never realizing she was talking to her future Mistress] that she had known Mr. Darcy since he was four years old. We were given glimpses of those formative years and the strength and wisdom that she exhibited as she performed her duties. I couldn’t help but fight a tear or two as it made me think of important people in my life that helped form my personality. Love from a strong influence can sooth many a rough patch in our lives. Mrs. Reynolds was that influence in Master Darcy’s life. Lovely story.

This short story is in memory of Mrs. Reynolds as Darcy shares with Elizabeth incidents from his life where she made a world of difference. Her love of Darcy and the family shines through in each word. It is a very touching sorry.
