Hunter Barrington, Duke of Melton, returned from war a changed man. Grieving his lost love, now the holder of a title that he had never thought to inherit, and expected to marry at the earliest opportunity, what he needed most was someone who could see him, simply as himself. Lady Nerissa Loughbridge, the second daughter, always outshone by her beautiful sister, perpetually reproved for her hoydenish ways. What she needed most was someone who could see her, just for herself, who might allow that her dreams had value, simply because she wished them. Then one day, in the winter woods, they met.... But a few magical weeks of delightful friendship were swept away by the hectic London Season, as Lady Nerissa’s transformation from ordinary, to the Incomparable of the Season, brought a flock of suitors, and the Duke’s new title made him the catch of the year. Can they find their way back to each other, through all their hearts’ confusion? Can Lady Nerissa thaw a heart frozen in grief, and claim it for her own?...

With the death of his father and brother in a carriage accident, he has become the new duke. She lives at the next manor house and grew up with him until he went to war. This sweet and clean romance is an excellent story of how affection and attraction can blossom and eventually turn to love. It has a full bodied plot and gentle but strong characters. A true delight to read. I highly recommend this book.

He needs to marry someone with a large dowry. He returns from the Napoleonic wars after a carriage accident claims his father, the Duke, and his older brother, the would be heir. He has no idea how to be a Duke, but he learns that his elder brother squandered much of their financial well-being. She needs to marry someone respectable with a title who can overlook her small dowry. Although a daughter of an Earl, she has little to recommend her. Known as the ugly duckling, compared to her older sister, and a bit of a bluesrocking. In a time of arranged marriages I always love to read about marrying for love.

I received a pre release copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.Brilliant and engaging read could not put it down had to finish it in one go which fortunately was not a hardship as only 100 pages. It’s not a steamy historical romance like the one I have read from Arietta but it was equally a delightful read. There was some comic statements that amused me and reminded me of my son’s school play entitled “Blast from the past”, “Good. Now try to relax. I will send a maid with some hot teato revive you. And pinch your cheeks, you are too pale.”

Wonderful story of loveI don't know why I love these romances so much; but I do! It's probably because they take me to a different time where women weren't able to follow their dreams. In this book Marissa is in her parents opinion "the ugly duckling" to Hunter and the other suitable men she is gorgeous. Of course in this story there is a "scandal" and love conquers all.I love these clean romances. I'm looking forward to reading the next book by Me Richmond.

Clean but not well writtenTrue, this is a clean romance. But it greatly resembles a story you tell rather than write. I agree completely with the reviewer who wrote, more showing, less telling. The author loses so many character building opportunities by saying "they went for nice walks.." Instead of taking the reader along on said walks. Skip this author and look for Sarah Eden, Nancy Campbell, Donna Hatch, etc.

This is too long for a short story and too short for a novel. And everything was just too peachy keen.

Claiming the Heart of a Duke is a nice sweet historical. It is easy reading and kept me enraged My only criticism would be all the peripheral characters are so shallow and undeveloped. Sometimes its interesting to see them fleshed out some. Maybe best friend, sister etc. Otherwise a good read."I received a pre release copy of this book in exchange for an honest review".

Correct salutationThe story was sweet ,characters are a bit bland but nice. I was very bothered by inconsistency in hero being addressed by servants and others. He should have always been addressed as ,Your Grace. Very poor editing.

A sweet, clean Regency romance. A second son becomes a duke and finds his happy-ever-after with a childhood friend. An ARC given to me for an honest review.
