Ok, I finally got back to reading and finished this book. I have to say that while it wasn't a bad read it was one that didn't keep my attention well but it was low angst which I always appreciate. It's about Kyle Wade who is a cop on leave and trying to capture a serial killer he believes killed his mother. He meets the killers target Nicole Chambers and at first plans to use her catch the killer but can't when he falls for her.I think for me it was moments at the beginning where it was very repetitive which got annoying. Later in the book it lost steam for me because it felt too long and drawn out. I also couldn't connect to the characters which also made it hard to get through. I wanted to enjoy them more but it to fell flat for me.I like this author and will try other books but this was one that I wasn't loving like I hoped.

I received a free copy in exchange for an honest review. The book started off on a high note. The situation was tense from the beginning. Nicole was targeted by a serial killer and Kyle was working on the case and he had a personal interest in the killer. From the first time they both meet, the sexual tension was palpable between them. The chemistry was off the charts hot and it took on a life of its own. The romance aspect was both sizzling and sweet in turns.Nicole was a strong character inspite of her recent attacks. She put up a brave front and she was realistic in her fears. Kyle was a typical cop, wanting to protect Nicole and at the same time wanting to apprehend Barber. But I felt that he was a bit callous in the beginning because of his personal agenda. He quickly mellowed out and chose Nicole over his anger. Another pair I quite enjoyed reading about were Rob and Sheryl. They were cute and made the perfect pair. The book was quite heavy on the romance and less on the suspense. The killer was revealed near the beginning so there was no mystery there. The only story to follow was how Kyle would get Barber. I would have liked a more suspenseful story. I found it a bit lacking in it. But I loved the interactions of the characters. It made for a fast read. The pace was fast and definitely had me trying to find out what Barber was planning next. The ending was a bit predictable. I almost saw the scene playing out as soon as Kyle and Rob were called to check out the tip. Another delightful addition to the cast was Charlie. And I loved the way he was rewarded at the end. It had me laughing softly. It made the perfect ending with all 3,yes, 3 pairs getting together. The author has an easy style of narration and her writing makes for the perfect weekend read. I can recommend this one to romance lovers and I will also be checking out her other books. My rating : 4/5

Between Midnight and DawnBy: Cheryl Yeko5 out of 5 starsThe story Between Midnight and Dawn is a romantic suspense/mystery book. Nicole Chamber’s track record with men is bad, very bad. She has sworn off dating for the foreseeable future. It is when she is recovering from an assault from the last man she dated that Nicole is attacked again in her home. If it wasn’t for the guy that showed up about her rental cottage, she would be dead. When he moves into her backyard her it tests her self-imposed sabbatical. Kyle’s mother was kidnapped and murdered when he was a kid. With rage and determination, he hunts down the man who is known as the Clove Hitch Killer. That is why he goes into law enforcement. When his efforts lead him to Nicole, he falls for her completely. Now he is torn between keeping her safe or using her as bait to capture a killer. This book is a chilling look into the world of a man who is so evil that just reading about him gave me chills. While the bulk of the story is about the investigation and the blossoming romance between Kyle and Nicole, the short glimpse into the mind of this killer is scary. This is a story that I would say that you need to read to understand how wonderful it is. The story is well written and you will love the characters. They are so well developed and take on a life of their own. Nicole is such a strong woman. She has been through so much and still holds on to her independence and dignity. Kyle lost his mother in the most unimaginable way when he was just a child. He has grown up and chose a career that will allow him to hunt this killer down. The other two characters that you will just love is Kyle’s best friend Rob and Nicole’s best friend, Sheryl. They first meet when Rob comes over to help Kyle with the investigation and they can’t stay away from each other after that. I have always loved thrilling mystery books and adding in the romance in this one make it twice as good. I highly recommend reading it. This book does contain violence, adult themes, and hot romance. It should be read by those 18 years or older. I borrowed this book through Kindle Unlimited and voluntarily reviewed it.

"Between Midnight and Dawn" by Cheryl Yeko is a story that had me on the edge of my seat yet smiling at the budding romance as well. Nicole and Kyle are terrific together, and apart too! Nicole is a strong and independent woman. She is full of life, and despite some very upsetting occurrences as of late with the male species, she still keeps her head up and believes in herself and life. Kyle, a cop out for revenge, struggles when meeting Nicole. He tries desperately to keep his heart out of it but, we all know how that goes! Ms. Yeko brought much to this tale - suspense and mystery, danger and excitement, and love and romance. I recommend this story to those that are looking for something that keeps the reader on their toes and intrigued, but is also balanced with the good - it's not all dark and dreary. The bad guy is just that - bad, really bad. But Ms. Yeko doesn't overwhelm the reader with the evil as sometimes happens in a story. I liked the writing style, telling it from the character's POV's, including the evil one. It flowed and I felt I was there in the story throughout. This is one that I enjoyed reading and would certainly recommend to friends for a story filled with love yet a nail biter as well. (received copy for honest review)

This book was wonderful. The story was riveting. It will keep you on your toes from beginning to end. You will wonder how someone who has outsmarted the cops for so many years and knows so many tricks of the trade will finally be caught. The blurb doesn’t really cover anything, so I don’t want to give anything away. Fans of Iris Johansen, Lisa Gardner, Nora Roberts, or J.D. Robb will love this book. The story is full of grit, and will leave you wanting more. By the end, all of your questions will be answered and you get to find out if Kyle finally gets to put his mother’s murder to rest so he can move on. So many times, I found myself on the edge of my seat or biting my nail waiting to see what would happen. Come along for the ride and check out this book. Cheryl Yeko did an amazing job with this one.

As with her previous books, author Cheryl Yeko weaves a wonderfully tangled web of suspense, effectively keeping the reader on the edge of their seats. The chemistry between the hero and heroine is electric. And, despite his duty to his mother’s memory, you just know the hero is going to do whatever it takes to protect the heroine. Not that she’s a shrinking violet. The author writes both hero and heroine as strong and capable characters, well deserving of a happy ending.

DNF. I tried really hard to get into this book. I'd read a bit, then put it down. Weeks later, I'm still not finished. I think it's time to throw in the towel.

I received this book in exchange for an honest review. I love mysteries and I am a huge fan of Criminal Minds, which if you do too, you will love this book. Kyle has always had an angry chip on his shoulder since his mom was brutally murdered by a serial killer. The book starts off with Kyle already having suspicions of who that killer is, unfortunately it lands him off the job while he straightens out his issues. Nicole, the current interest of the killer, is almost brutally attacked when Kyle steps in and saves her from a horrible torture and brutal rape. Cheryl is Nicole's best friend and I absolutely loved her bluntness and her flirtations with Rob, Kyle's best friend. Will they catch the killer in time before he kidnaps Nicole, well you are going to have to read the book to find out!You will love this book!Book Blurb: Kyle Wade has spent over half his life seeking justice for his mother’s brutal murder at the hands of the serial killer known as C.H.K. The frustration Kyle feels is a physical presence throughout this story, which is why it is so easy to get into his head and his heart. Nicole is a lot tougher than she thinks, and Kyle falls a little deeper every time she smiles. They are an adorable couple, and the supporting characters are just as interesting. This story has fantastic pace, just the right amount of danger, and enough passion to send tingles everywhere.LototyReviewer for Coffee Time Romance & MoreOfficial Review @ Coffee Time Romance & More

5***** Edge-of-the-sit thriller, scorching-hot romanceI read this book using my Kindle Unlimited subscription. If you like your steamy romance with a large dose of nail-biting suspense, you can’t miss Between Midnight and Dawn. It’s got plenty of both. This is my first time reading Ms. Yeko, but it won’t be the last as I’ve just found a new favorite author. She pulls you in from the action-filled beginning to the explosive ending. You won’t be able to turn the pages fast enough. The many twists and turns are well-written. Even the few predictable ones, like the best friend falling for love interest’s friend, were not only skillfully delivered, but also played a key part in the plot development. I’m being vague here on purpose as I don't do spoilers. In an action-packed thriller as this, it gets very hard not to give too much away. Believe me, you don't want anything spoiling this one for you.As an author, I find violent scenes particularly difficult to write. In my second novel, I struggled for over a week looking for the best way to depict an attempt rape scene, which was crucial to the story, yet felt so horrible for me to put on paper. I can only imagine how hard it was for Cheryl Yeko to write such vivid scenes as the ones in this book. On that note, her writing style is so exquisite you feel like you’re watching a good thriller more than reading a book. In my opinion, this is high quality story-telling. Which is evident in the way she fleshes out her characters and in the realistic aspects of the plot. Moreover, presenting multiple points of view without the dizzying side effects of head-hopping, like one finds in Between Midnight and Dawn, requires great talent. And the outcome is a much more enjoyable reading experience as we get inside each character’s head. This omniscience also helps us understand their motivations better. For example, after all the traumatic events in Nicole’s recent past, her passionate reaction to Kyle is totally justifiable as it’s a common response among victims of life-threatening experiences. It’s a way that the human psyche finds to cope with it, a way to reassure one’s survived a traumatic ordeal. As for the characters, they’re believable and interesting. Nicole, the lead female, is strong, intelligent and sweet while Kyle is the ultimate sensitive alpha male. He’s protective and attentive and oh-so-sexy. Their chemistry is sizzling and their love scenes will make your toes curls and your mouth water. I know what I’m talking about as I write erotic romances! This couple is HOT! You’ll fall in love with them. And Charlie, the dog. I totally relate to Kyle when he says the dog takes up too much space in bed. As I’m writing this, my little one is squeezing me off a king-size bed as she softly snores snuggling beside me. It’s impossible to get mad at these furry creatures. LOLI could go on and on about how great this book is, but I won’t take up more of your time. After all, once you start reading it, you won’t want to put it down, so you need these precious moments.

Suspense with a bit of romance 3 starsI was intrigued by the whole premise of revenge against a serial killer, involving the thrill and hunt, while wrapped around a romance story. What I didn’t bargain for is the descriptive brutalizing of the heroine and her friend. As soon as I came across how the heroine was assaulted, the second time, my inner romance girly girl just shouted...NO. I really wanted to like this story, but from the start I had a disconnect from the main characters and how the relationship was forced on the reader. For me, the attraction and sex between the two was one dimensional, and I didn’t feel the connection. Though the author’s writing style is fluid with a plausible storyline, I struggled getting through it. Others may like this suspense thriller with just a bit of romance thrown in. I’ve read a winning collaboration between Cheryl Yeko and Char Chaffin in The Rodeo King, and hope to find more of their work in the future.Copy provided by Reading Alley in exchange for an honest review.

Amount of sex - 3 / 5How explicit - 3 / 5Romance - 4 / 5Overall: 3.5 / 5Between Midnight and Dawn by Cheryl Yeko is a dark suspenseful romance novel. It is full of mystery, angst, suspense, and passion. The writing it great as well as the characters, but It does have some trigger elements, so you are aware.Kyle Wade has been focused most of his life on finding the killer who murdered his mother twenty-two years ago. He went into the police force and took it upon himself to find this murderer labeled the Clove Hitch Killer (C.H.K.). Currently, Kyle is stalking a man he believes could be C.H.K. and finds the suspect following a beautiful woman named Nicole Chambers. Afraid that she is his next victim, Kyle does everything in his power to keep her safe, which includes renting the cottage in her backyard. He quickly finds himself caught between wanting to keep Nicole safe and chasing after C.H.K. Can he do both? ** I volunteered the review from an advance copy **

Was gifted this book, and will give it my honest reviewKyle Wade lost his mother at a young age and years later his Father spiraled and died, raised by friends of the Family he and Rob grew up together, both joined the police dept as Kyle wanted to help others and to catch his Mother's killer. As he spends time tracking the killer known as C.H.K. This leads him to Nicole Chambers, who he starts to care for and tries not to use her as bait, Nicole also develops feelings for Kyle as the both fight and seek a way for her not to fall into the serial murder hands.Does she escape, well wont be telling you that nor will I give you a hint, but it was a intense book, well written that kept on edge the entire time.

3.5/5.0This is not a tale where readers are trying to find the bad guy—the killer is known from almost page one—instead readers will be rooting for Kyle to figure out how he is going to prove it after decades of not being caught.Read full review in the 2016 July/August issue of InD'tale Magazine.

I was not disappointed. I found this story to pull me in from the first chapter. The emotions and actions between the characters are well described and easy to follow along. Didn't finish this book, made it to about 50 percent. The subject matter was the issue. The "good" cop spying on the target finished my enjoyment in the story. Probably deserved a better rating but since I didn't finish it, this was the best I could do.
