The Skin Stalker Blue Ink 1 Reviews
So, in the very beginning I wasn't sure what to think. I was a bit afraid that I was getting myself into another--yep, seen this before kind of situation with the whole good vs. evil thing. Instead, I am pleased to say that the author did not take the standard approach and that this book was very entertaining. The characters are well represented and each have a definite point to being involved with the story. The author does not get overly wordy or waste time with mundane details that are not relevant to the plot. There is not mile a minute action in this book at every corner, but there is a sort of psychological approach that resonates with you if you enjoy reading a book that will keep you guessing. The approach the author used to building her characters was a bit different than the conventional "my name is and my purpose is" and I really liked that. If you like a book with lighter romance and more mystery then this is one that I would recommend you check out. I think this author has a good voice and look forward to another book from her.
I don't know why this book was just hard for me to get into. There was parts I found very interesting and other parts I had to make myself keeping going. The story line I did fine intriguing. It is not a bad book or anything and that is why I still give it 4 stars. I chalk it up the kind of book zone I am in. I would some where down the line in my books readings in a different book zone give this book another shot :)
2.5/5.0"The Skin Stalker" is advertised as a romance but very little romantic elements exist. This "Ghostbusters" meets "The Da Vinci Code" thriller has a unique spin on good vs. evil but has a hard time keeping the reader on the edge of their seat. Let me just cut to the chase here and say this book has so many flaws that I almost feel bad putting this review up. Genre: Thriller... kinda, Suspense... maybe, Paranormal... ifyousayso.Summary: Joelle Kent had an affair with a man named Colin Conroe which did not end well, as Colin (an ambitious man) moved to a different state when a good opportunity presented itself. This turns Joelle into a weepy woman, and Colin is described as a selfish, greedy douchebag. It has been three years, but Joelle has not gotten over Colin. She is a little unnerved when she sees a car with a Colorado numberplate (the state where Colin moved to from Texas) while stuck in traffic. Why is she unnerved? Because a gypsy fortuneteller said she (Joelle) had a connection with someone two states away. Oh well. Anyway, so Colin is still ambitious and shown as this apathetic, horny guy. Which is funny cos - no, wait - I'll get to the characters later in detail. Whoever Colin sleeps with gets (not so) mysteriously murdered and stuffed into an equipment bag. This is being done by a man/evil minion/demon named Clark Cresil/Skin Stalker who has sold his soul to the devil. After murdering the women, he punctures an area behind their ear with a blue pen. Joelle is convinced that Colin is murdering the women (though she had no clue that Colin was associated with them; she only knows they are from Colorado) because while they were dating, he played a prank on her and stabbed her with a blue pen behind her ear when she was sleeping. Then she begins to pray so that Colin's demons are exorcised. To read the rest of my review, please click on this link: https://rainandabook.wordpress.com/2015/04/20/the-skin-stalker-by-davee-jones
