Carolina is a young girl who moves out west with her family, bringing only her beloved doll Lydia Lou. I enjoyed reading how Carolina interacted and played with her doll, plus how she handled stressful situations and ultimately made a big sacrifice for her and those around her. I first read it to myself, now I'm reading it aloud to my 7 year old daughter. Great book, esp. when studying pioneer days.

Some really good life lessons Carolina learned as she traveled across the plains.

We liked Bound for Oregon better. this is probably better suited for younger audiences, esp girls. those pioneers were tough!

I felt like the story didn't really finish...I wasn't too impressed with the characters, especially the dad.

A good story about traveling west by covered wagon. Another good book for developing a real appreciation for our American heritage.
