I loved this story! I have to admit I was pretty mad at where it ended, but that was only because the story is so good and I REALLY want to know what happens next. I won't give a summery of what it's about because it's so short, only about 68 pages on my computer e-reader and I don't want to ruin it for anyone. I will say that I love the writing style and the story is well written. I think it's still too early in the story to really comment on the character development. It was only the first four or five chapters of the story, but I did feel as if I was getting to know Bethany really well. I'm really liking her as a person and look forward to seeing how she handles all the weird things that are going on. I also really like Edie as well. I really hope there will be a next one in this series and very soon! The story has drawn me in completely and I can't wait to read more. I just want to mention for anyone getting ready to read this to keep in mind it's not edited. The author makes a note on the title page about it. There aren't that many grammar mistakes, so it didn't bother me at. There was only one small thing that kind of confused me at first and it was the state the story takes place in. At first it says the city is in Virginia. Later on it says the city is in Louisiana. It's not a big deal and doesn't hurt the story in any way. This is a fast read. I would have finished it really fast if I didn't have to read it on my computer. I have a bad back and can't sit at my desk long and for some reason my GoodReads app on my iPad would crash every time I tried to load it there, so I had to read a chapter and then get up and move around. It wasn't easy having to take breaks lol. I highly recommend this novella to anyone! Please hurry and write more! =) hehe

Moving on from descendants of dragons to descendants of Vampires and Hunters in Violet Fury by Richard Paul Denney. In Violet Fury, Bethany Cates and her mother Eleanor have moved to the town of Crest View , something about Crest View is eerily familiar to Bethany and she can swear she has been here before but her mother denies it. Upon Bethany's arrival , she starts having vivid nightmares , the same one over and over again -alway picking up where it finished off. In the dreams , she is known as Sarah who is in love with Jasper - a human who is turned into a type of Vampire. We then flick to modern day where Bethany is experiencing a deja vu sense where the people in her dream are starting to look like those around her and just when she thinks it can't get any crazier , she starts to understand what her neighbour's cat is saying to her. When a school project about the History of Crest View and her family comes to happen , Bethany is about to get the shock of a lifetime when she discovers just who her descendants are and what her family lineage means and what is in stock for Bethany. This is a great first volume to an amazing series, the only downside that I had to this was I believe it finished too quickly for me and now the 2nd volume is not expected to be out till 2013 - a long time to wait.

Bethany is a typical 14 year old teenager, right? Well at least she seemed to think so until very recently. She has resorted to stay awake pills since falling asleep has been bringing her nightmares and these nightmares have been linear - meaning that the next nightmare is a continuation of the previous one. Strange things start happening to her during her waking hours also. Things get so out of control that she womps on a another girl at school - naturally she deserved it, but Bethany just doesn't act like this. Strange things are going on with schoolmates and a special boy in her dreams just may be more real than she would have expected. This has been happening since she and her mom moved to Crest View which, it seems, has a mysterious past and Bethany's family has been part of it. Her mother has been keeping secrets from her.In this novella Mr. Denney has put together an intriguing start to what I hope will be continued. There are a lot of events that occur which get us - and Bethany - to the point where we are going to find what is going on with her and the town. But you will have to wait to see what that is!You will enjoy this story. I know I did. Mr. Denney how about part 2??

Richard Denney never disappoints with his novels. The writing style of "Violet Fury" was great. Even though this was the first Richard Denney novel I read "in full", I have to read all of his books like right now! The writing was beautiful and full into depth. Not one time did I ever think to myself "I think he should have re-arranged that" or "I didn't like that part". I highly recommend you read "Violet Fury"! '

I'm not on who usually reads young-adult fiction, but I am glad I read this. I thoroughly enjoyed it and I could not put it down. My only complaint is that it ended so abruptly, right when it was getting to the good part! Great job Richard!

I have read a handful of Richard's books and really a big fan of his stories. I found a lot of potential in this one as well, but it was the first time I felt that the shortness of it made me feel a little disconnected from the characters. There is a lot of references to dreams that Bethany is having, but we are not really given enough information in my opinion to really grip the concept of what the whole dream sequences were really about when looking at the whole picture overall. What we do get to see is still really great. Great characters with awesome dialogue like always, and it does end with a lot of questions to be answered but also with a hint that there is more coming in Bethany's story. So I look forward to see how some of the dreams and storylines come together in the future.
